In late January, Quinsigamond Community College received $10,000 from the office of Worcester County District Attorney Joseph “Joe” Early, Jr. to make improvements to the college’s baseball field. The funding is part of Early’s Drug Forfeiture Community Reinvestment program, which reinvests proceeds of drug crime seizures to community organizations that focus on youth and education.
“As a result of our prevention efforts, we’ve reduced juvenile delinquency complaints by 79%. It happens because you all do the hard work and we get to partner with you,” said Early.
“The college is grateful to DA Early for his unwavering support of QCC and the youth of our communities. Partnerships like this highlight the power of working together for the benefit of our students and the entire region,” said QCC President Luis G. Pedraja, Ph.D.
“I would like to extend a huge ‘thank you’ to Worcester District Attorney Joe Early and his team for granting us this funding to support our baseball student-athletes and coaches,” said Director of Athletics & Fitness Center Lisa Gurnick. “We’re very fortunate to have the continuous support of our President Luis Pedraja, Vice President Michelle Tufau, Dean of Students Terry Vecchio, the marketing department, QCC Foundation and our QCC Community. Together we encourage our students to strive for greatness.”
QCC will use the funds to renovate the bullpens on the baseball field after the spring season. QCC’s baseball season starts in March of 2025. For more information and game schedules visit QCC.edu/athletics.
