President of Quinsigamond Community College Luis G. Pedraja, Ph.D., was recently appointed as a delegate to the New England Board of Higher Education by Governor Maura Healey. This appointment recognizes Pedraja’s leadership in higher education and commitment to advancing educational opportunities in the Central Massachusetts region.
The New England Board of Higher Education is a congressionally authorized organization that promotes equitable higher education opportunities and services for the residents of New England. NEBHE works across the six New England states to engage and assist leaders in the assessment, development and implementation of sound education practices and policies.

"Dr. Pedraja has proven his dedication to equitable access to higher education over the course of his incredibly successful career. He was a key partner in the success of MassReconnect and is an important collaborator as we launch the most comprehensive free community college program in the country. We're excited to see him in this new role and look forward to the work ahead.”
Pedraja brings decades of experience in higher education to this role, including seven years as the president of Quinsigamond Community College. Under his leadership, QCC has increased enrollment, launched several student success initiatives, implemented a robust strategic plan, increased its community partners and workforce development programs, improved infrastructure on campus and successfully received reaccreditation from the New England Commission of Higher Education.
“It is an honor and privilege to be asked to serve as a member of the New England Board of Higher Education. I am excited to represent our Commonwealth and help promote equitable access for all in higher education on a broader scale,” Pedraja said.
Pedraja currently serves as a commissioner on the New England Commission of Higher Education, on the Worcester Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and on the Board of Directors for the Worcester Regional Research Bureau, as well as other community agencies.
