WORCESTER, MA – May 21, 2024 – The Quinsigamond Community College Police Academy recently celebrated the graduation of 14 new police officers. The recruits completed an intensive 26-week program to become certified municipal, transit, environmental and campus police officers across Massachusetts.

"Being a police officer is a meaningful way to serve your community," said Kevin Ritacco, executive director of the Police Academy program at QCC. "Quinsigamond Community College offers a full-time Police Academy that you can attend right here. You will be able to control your destiny as a police officer and become certified to work for any municipal law enforcement agency, as well as the MBTA Police, Massachusetts Environmental Police and college and university police departments."

QCC is the first Full-Time Police Recruit Officer Course (ROC) in an extended format (evenings). The program began as a part-time Reserve Academy in 2018 and switched to a Full-Time Academy in 2021.

Graduates from the QCC’s recent recruit officer course have secured employment in various local police departments, such as Clark University Police Department and Shrewsbury Police Department.

The QCC Police Academy is now recruiting for its next class which begins in September 2024. This full-time, evening program provides entry-level training to become a certified police officer in Massachusetts, with no prior employment as an officer required. Applicants must be at least 21 years old.
