The sun was shining brightly on the diamond at Quinsigamond Community College as representatives from the Worcester Little League Challenger Division took to the field. They weren't there to play, rather to receive QCC's Community Impact Award, given to a group that has consistently had a positive effect on the youth of Central Massachusetts.
The Challenger Division provides opportunities for children with physical and/or intellectual challenges to experience the game of baseball. Quinsigamond presented the award in between games at the QCC men's baseball game double-header on April 27, in recognition of the the joy and inclusivity they bring to the local community. It was a touching moment that reminded everyone athletics has the power to unite people from all walks of life.
"The Challenger Division embodies the spirit of our community - one of acceptance, determination, and an unwavering love of the game," said Director of Community Engagement Sean Harris.
