Last month (February 2022), Quinsigamond Community College President Luis G. Pedraja, Ph.D., along with other area community college representatives from the Commonwealth, met with the Massachusetts Congressional Delegation in Washington, DC to help promote awareness of QCC and other community colleges in the Commonwealth, and help to garner additional Federal funding support.
In early March, QCC learned they had received $975,000 to create a HyFlex classroom and purchase technology for QCC programs of study including workforce training, thanks to the advocacy of Chairman of the House and Rules Committee, Congressman James McGovern, who represents the Worcester area.
This HyFlex Technology system will increase access to post-secondary education and workforce training for underrepresented minority populations.
"This critical investment demonstrates the value that QCC brings to our region. This federal funding will make a monumental difference to our present and future students and our communities," said Dr. Pedraja. "I want to thank Congressman McGovern for his steadfast support to those in our community who need it most. His unwavering support of QCC and our students will help so many to realize a better future through higher education."
