Academic Affairs Professional Development and Staff Development are important in making sure faculty and staff are engaged and enriched in their professional careers through trainings and activities.
Academic Affairs Professional Development at the Center for Academic Excellence, located within 101 Ahlfors Hall, provides and supports professional development training and activities for all Academic Affairs faculty and staff, as well as training and activities designed to enhance the organizational climate. These activities include: funding for travel and conference attendance; on-campus workshops; professional development seminars; skills training; "All College" professional development days; and various College social events.
Academic Affairs Professional Development Goals:
- To provide training and activities to support the Goals and Objectives of the College's Strategic Plan
- To provide and support up-to-date technology training for faculty and staff
- To improve cross-campus communication and collegiality
- To provide and support training and activities that will enhance teamwork, communication, and the organizational climate
- To provide and support training and activities that will enhance workplace skills
Professional development funds are made available by departmental grant funding, mini-grant project funding, developmental travel funding, and tuition reimbursement (see Funding Request Applications below).

Applications
- Applications will be presented for consideration at the next scheduled Academic Affairs Professional Development Committee meeting which meets the third Tuesday of the month. Applications received less than 30 days prior to event/travel or the start date of a course, may not be considered for approval.
- Academic Affairs Professional Development funds are REIMBURSEMENT ONLY. YOU ARE REQUIRED TO PAY ALL EXPENSES UP FRONT.
- Applications are fillable forms. Download the application and save it to your computer. Then open it on your computer and enter the information.
- Procedures and eligibility requirements are included in each application.
- Obtain required supervisor signatures. Submit the fillable application. Hand-written applications are not acceptable.
- All applications must be submitted and approved prior to activity. Academic Affairs Professional Development will not reimburse retroactively.
- Attach documentation for your funding request: e.g. conference/project information/brochure, vendor/travel arrangement confirmations, googlemaps for mileage, course information, etc.
Professional development funds are available for department grant funding, mini-grant project funding, event/travel funding, and tuition reimbursement.

Staff Development provides and supports professional development training and activities for College personnel, as well as training and activities designed to enhance the organizational climate. These activities include funding for professional development opportunities for staff in Administrative Services, External Affairs, and Strategic Enrollment & Student Engagement as well as on-campus professional development workshops and trainings.

Staff Development Funding Requests
Staff development funds are available for a wide variety of professional development opportunities, including conferences and workshops, continuing education opportunities, participation in professional organizations, research and development opportunities, and much more. Complete the Staff Development Activity Funding Request Form to request funding for travel, tuition, registration fees, and other expenses related to staff development activities.

When completing the application, please keep the following items in mind:
- Staff Development funds are REIMBURSEMENT ONLY. YOU ARE REQUIRED TO PAY ALL EXPENSES UP FRONT.
- The application is a fillable form. We recommend downloading the application and filling out the form electronically using a web browser or PDF software, such as Foxit or Adobe.
- Once you have filled out the application, send the form to your Supervisor and Area Vice President for acknowledgment and signature. Once all required signatures are obtained, send the completed form to staffdevelopment@qcc.mass.edu at least 30 days prior to activity, along with relevant documentation. Attach relevant documentation for your funding request, such as conference information or agenda, course information, travel arrangement confirmations or estimates, etc.
