Requirements
Proof of English Proficiency
Quinsigamond Community College requires all applicants whose first language is not English to demonstrate English competency as a part of the application process. Students may demonstrate English competency by submitting scores from the TOEFL iBT or IELTS. Test results must be sent directly to Quinsigamond Community College. All English proficiency test scores must be within two years of the application deadline. You must achieve the following scores:
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL iBT): 173 on the computer-based test or, 61 on the Internet-based test or, 500 on the paper-based test.
-
Students who have obtained a score of 5.0 on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test.
- US College Level English class: Completed one-semester of a college-level English course at an American College or university achieving a grade of C or better. Have an official transcript sent to Quinsigamond Community College.
-
Students who have obtained a score of 100 in the Duolingo English Test.
International Student Acknowledgement
- International students studying in the United States on visas cannot establish a permanent domicile in the United States no matter how many extensions are granted. International students must pay Out-of-State tuition.
- To qualify for and maintain a student visa (F-1 status), the students must complete a minimum of 12 credits in Fall and 12 credits in Spring. We recommend that students take 15 credits per semester since taking fewer credits may require them to complete additional semesters to finish the selected program. F-1 students are restricted to one online (3 credits) course per semester; the remainder of classes must be taken in a traditional, on-campus setting.
- International students may not accept unauthorized employment, or they are subject to deportation.
- All students must complete the Immunization Requirement Form, which indicates required vaccinations.
- International Students cannot apply to Health Care Programs and certificates in their first semester at Quinsigamond Community College due to mandatory program requirements to be in the United States.
- Students who are accepted are responsible for the full cost of enrolling in courses at Quinsigamond Community College.
- International students are not eligible to apply for federal financial aid.
- International Students cannot apply to the English as Second Language (ESL) program.
