QCC's favorite mascot was out in full force last week, making sure every student started their spring semester on a high note and turning first-day jitters into smiles.

The Wyvern could be found distributing campus maps, highlighters and hand sanitizer, even pitching in to help at a few key QCC locations like the bookstore and the HomePlate Food Pantry & Resource Center.

QCC's Wyvern is a mythical, winged dragon that was the ancient protector of Worcestershire, England. The Wyvern is fierce, loyal, intelligent, strong and resourceful, symbolizing community guardianship. As the Wyvern protected Worcestershire, England, our college protects Worcester, MA.

For many students, the first day of classes can be daunting, but with the Wyvern spreading its wings around our campus, QCC once again showed why its known for a welcoming atmosphere.

Of course, the welcoming atmosphere couldn't exist without QCC's dedicated staff and faculty who work hard to maintain beautiful spaces, provide resources, uphold safety and educate our students. January's Super Saturday and Terrific Thursday events were testaments to that hard work as the college accommodated close to 500 attendees who enrolled, registered and received other assistance. Events like these are a great way to start the semester strong.

"I am happy to see our efforts come to fruition as we support our students on their educational journeys. These events get better every year! We thrive to find more ways to help students get the best opportunities they deserve," said Coordinator of On-Campus Events and Recruitment Brandon Won.
