On Thursday, April 25th the quad was transformed into a lively celebration of mental health and wellness for Fresh Check Day. Sponsored by the Office of Counseling & Wellness and the Office of Student Life, the annual event aimed to raise awareness about mental health resources in a fun, stigma-free environment.
Students got some petting in with calming therapy dogs and fluffy alpacas, while others expressed their creativity with crafts such as bracelet making. Other booths offered the opportunity for self reflection about identity and breaking down stigmas. The hands-on activities provided an positive outlet for relaxation and mindfulness.
Of course, no campus event is complete without free food! Students munched on fresh-baked pizza and cooled off with frozen treats from an ice cream truck. Combining sustenance with mental health outreach proved to be a winning combination.
Fresh Check Day offered students a welcoming space to pause, recharge, and prioritize their wellbeing amid the stresses of college life. With free food, fun activities, cute animal interaction, and mental health outreach, the event succeeded in uplifting spirits while delivering an important message of self-care.
