The Black Student Union at Brooklyn Library

Last month, several students from the Black Student Union and their faculty advisor Brenda Safford went to Brooklyn, New York to see The Book of HOV exhibit at the Brooklyn Library. The exhibit is an installation created by Roc Nation to celebrate the life and work of Shawn “JAY-Z” Carter. Afterward, the students enjoyed a wonderful lunch at Cheryl’s Global restaurant. The  trip was funded by Quinsigamond Foundation’s Innovation Fund.

"The experience was incredible for the students to engage with the rich cultural history of hip-hop and connect with like-minded individuals from diverse backgrounds. Hip-hop has played a significant role in shaping our society and has been a powerful platform for expressing the experiences, struggles and triumphs of the Black community," Safford said.

The BSU also hosted a night of creativity for the QCC community with a paint night. An instructor guided participants through a Thanksgiving-themed evening of painting and community.
