Last month, graduates from the Biomanufacturing Pre-Apprentice Certificate Program were awarded their certificates during a ceremony in the Harrington Learning Center.
There were 10 students enrolled in the program and all finished and received the Certificate of Completion as a Pre-Apprentice registered with the Division of Apprenticeship Standards through the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development. Laura Lee, of the Division of Apprentice Standards presented the certificates to each of the students.
This 11-week pre-apprentice program offers a tiered modality of learning that includes basic biomanufacturing knowledge, as well as workforce readiness skills training. Students also participate in the BOUNCE program, a wrap-around soft skills workforce readiness training program. This program helps students to be successful and effective employees, by teaching them specific skills important in the workplace such as skills in time management, professionalism in the workplace, critical thinking, communication and interpersonal relationships. The program also provides students with training on how to build their resumes and preparing them for interviews. Students have the opportunity to start a registered apprenticeship program through MassBioEd or immediately begin a career within the Bio-Tech field.
"I feel that the program is very good and everyone involved is very helpful. I would absolutely recommend the program to friends and peers, and whoever gets into the program will be lucky," said QCC student Uzzal Barua said.
