WORCESTER, MA – September 12, 2024 – Quinsigamond Community College is holding a voter registration drive, QCC Votes, throughout the fall 2024 semester with a kickoff event on National Voter Registration Day, Tuesday, September 17 from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. on its main campus at 670 West Boylston St., Worcester. The nonpartisan event will include informational workshops, as well as assistance with registering to vote.
“We want to spread the word about the importance of voting and ensure that every eligible voter feels empowered to exercise their right to vote. Together, we can make a difference and inspire our community to engage in the electoral process,” said Director of Community Engagement Sean Harris.
Harris collaborated with several departments at QCC, as well as the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Massachusetts and Third Act Massachusetts to coordinate the voter registration drive. Representatives from ACLU of Massachusetts and Third Act Massachusetts will be present at QCC’s main campus for the September 17 event, which will include workshops covering 2024 ballot candidates and questions, voting rights and how the Massachusetts Legislature functions.
Additionally, throughout the semester QCC volunteers will wear lanyards with QR codes that link directly to a voter registration form.
“The goal is to make voter registration as accessible and convenient as possible for everyone in our community. Voting is everyone’s right as an American citizen and by exercising your right to vote, you can affect change on a local and national level,” said QCC President Dr. Luis G. Pedraja, adding, ” Voting is a powerful way to take an active role in your future.”
