On Monday, July 15, 2024, Quinsigamond Community College swore in its new Deputy Chief of Operations for Campus Police, Michael "Mike" Vigeant. The role had been vacant since former Deputy Chief of Operations Stephen DiGiovanni became Chief of Police earlier this year.
“Since its inception, the QCC Police Department has been committed to building and maintaining meaningful partnerships within the campus, the adjoining neighborhoods and with all relevant local, state and federal law enforcement agencies. The Deputy Chief of Operations role has played an important part in these connections,” said QCC President Dr. Luis Pedraja.
Vigeant has worked in campus law enforcement for 17 years, most recently as a captain at Worcester State University Police Department and has obtained two master’s degrees, one from Anna Maria College and one from Fitchburg State University. Vigeant also holds numerous command-level trainings, such as the trilogy award from FBI-LEEDA and the LHLN (Leaders Helping Leaders Network) Significant Leaders Program.
“The main objective of this position is to ensure that best police practices are not only being recognized, but also followed to ensure the safety of our QCC community and our police department personnel,” said DiGiovanni. “Mike is very well known by his peers, not only in Central Massachusetts, but statewide. I am beyond excited for Mike to take on this role and I know he will continue to grow this position and the department.”
